About Us This firm was originally known as Kilgariffs & Associates prior to being purchased by Darrell Shields in 1988. Thereafter the firm came to be known as Darrell Shields & Associates. In 1992, David Mills joined the firm as a partner and the firm then became Darrell Shields & Mills. Since that time it has expanded as a result of an increased workload and the general growth of the Rockhampton area. David was admitted to practice as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in December 1984. He worked as an employed Solicitor for approximately four years prior to accepting a position with the New South Wales Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Sydney where he remained for a further four years achieving the position of Solicitor Advocate. He then accepted a position with the Criminal Justice Commission (CJC) as Second in Charge of one of the Official Misconduct Units. During his time with the CJC, David was involved in the successful prosecution of the then Queensland Police Commissioner on charges of official misconduct which came before the Official Misconduct Tribunal in Brisbane. On the 1st July 1997 David purchased the remaining half share of the firm from Darrell Shields and continued to practice as the Principal Solicitor and sole owner of the firm. The firm then came to be known as David Mills Lawyers on 1st July 2001. Since David has been with the firm he has had a marked impact on the profession in the Rockhampton area. He has been involved in some notable cases including a Family Law case where he exposed a Psychologist as a fraud and perjurer. This person was subsequently convicted and sentenced to a term of imprisonment for his deception of not only this firm's client but many other unsuspecting persons who utilised his service. You may recall 60 Minutes covering this story in 1996. A second Family Law case involved an International custody dispute that spanned the globe, finally resulting in victory for our client and an interview for David with reporters from a BBC London based television current affairs program. Currently this boutique firm comprises a staff of five clerical support staff. This firm practices a holistic approach to client care and seeks to ensure our clients are our priority. In maintaining our client service approach, we do not time cost our files and welcome your inquiry or the opportunity to provide a quote for our services.
